Tweaking the Website
November 13, 2020 by Josh L.
Welcome to the second launch of Dermestid! Over the past couple of days, I’ve made a few adjustments to the site to simplify the code and fit in some requirements for the assignment portions of the project. Primarily, I had quite a bit of filler text in the Album, About, and here in the News pages that needed to be replaced with actual written content. On the coding side, I had two separate CSS files to merge to eliminate some redundancies and provide some improved efficiency. I also ran each page through W3C’s Markup Validator, and had quite a few things to fix that were brought up there.
I’m hoping to get my head back above water soon as the end of the semester draws near. I’ve had to put off actual music production for Dermestid and content creation over at Timeslip and the WordPress site to focus on final projects and increasingly complex class assignments, but that’s just the nature of taking classes, even remotely. With any luck I will be fleshing out this site with some more, polished music, and even get the long-gestating album delivered. Now that there’s a dedicated website to this project, I really given myself no choice but to forge ahead pull Extinction Event together.
Anyway, watch this spot in the coming months. There will be much more to come, and I expect to be updating regularly with new music as this last semester winds down.
Dermestid is Live!

The first draft of the Dermestid website is finally up and on the web! While you can follow Dermestid over at SoundCloud, this site is meant to provide a somewhat more comprehensive look into the development of the project and the music it produces. There is not yet a lot of content up here, as most of it is a long way from being sharable, but for the time being you can find a few pieces here in very rough form in the Music page.
Please check out the About and Album pages (once the filler text is replaced) to learn more about the Dermestid project and the music I hope to create here. As this site is technically an assignment for a Web Development class that I am taking, you will find several pages under the Design tab in the main menu that will eventually be removed from the site. Feel free to check those out if for a little insight into the website development process.
